What are veneers?

What does getting veneers involve?

If your teeth and gums are healthy, your provider administers a local anesthetic, numbing your mouth.

Once you’re comfortable, your provider removes a thin layer of enamel from each tooth. Afterward, they take a series of impressions and send them to a laboratory that creates your custom veneers.

Second appointment

When the dental lab completes your custom veneers, you return to Central Avenue Dental. Your provider lines up the veneers with your natural teeth and bonds them in place. Afterward, they remove any excess material, polish your teeth, and provide care instructions.

How long do veneers last?

Veneers last an average of 10-15 years, but it’s possible to extend their lifespan by practicing good oral hygiene. Central Avenue Dental recommends:

• Brushing your teeth twice daily
• Flossing before going to bed at night
• Drinking dark beverages through a straw
• Wearing a mouthguard when playing sports
• Using a night guard if you have bruxism
• Avoiding bad habits like nail-biting or opening plastic packaging with your teeth
