All-on-4 Dental Implants: Your Long-Term Solution for Tooth Loss

All-on-4 Dental Implants: Your Long-Term Solution for Tooth Loss

Extensive tooth loss among adults in the US is shockingly common. Approximately 40 million Americans are missing all of their teeth in at least one arch. The good news is that dentures are no longer the only option for replacing multiple missing teeth.

Today, you don’t have to worry about slippage, dietary restrictions, and progressive bone loss that comes with a removable appliance.

At Central Avenue Dental, with offices in Valley Stream and Midtown Manhattan, we offer a more stable, permanent alternative with All-on-4 dental® implants. This state-of-the-art technology provides a full-arch restoration that functions like natural teeth for our patients at both our offices.

Understanding the All-on-4 concept

All-on-4 implants replace an entire upper or lower arch of teeth using only four titanium implants. These implants act as artificial roots that support a fixed prosthetic bridge. Unlike traditional implants, which may require 6 to 8 posts and significant bone grafting, this method maximizes available bone by tilting the posterior implants at a 45-degree angle.

By utilizing the denser bone in the front of the jaw, the All-on-4 technique often eliminates the need for invasive bone augmentation procedures. This makes the treatment accessible to patients who may have been told they lack the bone density for conventional implants.

Benefits of a fixed restoration

Dental implants are preferable to dentures because they integrate with the jawbone, providing the stability that removable appliances can’t.

Another advantage: Dentures provide only a fraction of natural chewing efficiency; implant-supported solutions can restore up to 85% of original function.

Beyond functionality, the All-on-4 system prevents structural changes that occur after tooth loss. When teeth are missing, the jawbone naturally begins to resorb or shrink because tooth roots are no longer stimulating it. This resorption can lead to a sunken facial appearance and premature aging. Because dental implants stimulate the bone, they help preserve the natural contours of the face and jaw.

Long-term success and durability

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, 94.8% dental implants continued to function well after 10 years.

Implants require only the same care as your natural teeth: daily brushing and flossing, plus professional cleanings at our Valley Stream or Midtown locations every six months.

Restoring your smile

We begin with a comprehensive evaluation using advanced 3D imaging to map the jaw structure. On the day of the procedure, any remaining unhealthy teeth are removed, and the four implants are placed. In many cases, a temporary set of functional teeth can be attached the same day. Once the implants have fully fused with the bone over several months, the final, permanent bridge is secured.
